Across the UK, interest in women’s football is growing fast. The success of the Lionesses has sparked new enthusiasm for the game, inspiring more women to get involved at every level. But at grassroots level, access remains surprisingly difficult.
Casual players often struggle to find local games. Information is scattered across social media groups, WhatsApp chats, and word-of-mouth networks. For team captains, organising matches can involve juggling pitch bookings, player availability, and last-minute changes with little support from existing tools.
Women’s Football Games set out to change that. The vision was simple but powerful: a platform where players could discover local matches, connect with others, and organise games with ease. Before committing to a full product build, the team partnered with Arch to scope and prototype a proof of concept that could validate the idea and define a clear roadmap forward.
Through a structured discovery process, we explored how the platform could support both players and organisers, helping remove barriers to participation while strengthening local football communities.
Proving the concept.
Working closely with WFG founder, Tala, Arch led a discovery process designed to shape the foundations of the platform. Through workshops, feature exploration, and early design concepts, we scoped a proof of concept that could demonstrate how the app might work in practice.
Rather than building everything at once, the focus was on identifying the core features that would deliver real value for early users while leaving space for future expansion.
That meant:
- Mapping intuitive user journeys for discovering and joining local games
- Defining a streamlined booking system for pitches and match organisation
- Exploring community features that help players connect and build teams
- Designing a scalable technical architecture for future platform growth
Alongside product strategy, we also developed early interface concepts and technical recommendations to guide the next phase of development.
The result is a clear product vision and a validated foundation for Women’s Football Games to move forward with confidence, bringing a new generation of players closer to the game.
