PAWS & PROTECT.
We partnered with Paws & Protect to design a mobile-first pet first aid platform that gives owners immediate access to trusted emergency guidance when every second matters. Inspired by the real-world experience of a practising veterinary nurse, the platform was conceived to bridge a critical gap in pet healthcare by providing clear, accessible, and reassuring support during emergencies while laying the foundations for a broader pet wellbeing ecosystem.
A Digital First Aid Companion for Modern Pet Owners.
Working closely with the founder, we began with a collaborative discovery process to understand both the clinical expertise behind the concept and the emotional journey experienced by pet owners during emergencies.
Rather than designing a feature-heavy application, we focused on creating a Minimum Viable Product that delivers immediate value through simplicity, speed, and reassurance. Every aspect of the user experience was designed to reduce stress and help owners access the right information as quickly as possible.
The MVP centres around an Emergency Guidance Hub where users can select their pet type before browsing categorised first aid scenarios including choking, poisoning, heatstroke, and other common emergencies. Each scenario presents clear, step-by-step guidance designed to be easily understood, even during moments of panic.
Supporting features include a directory of essential veterinary helplines alongside a location-based veterinary practice finder, allowing users to quickly identify and contact nearby professionals when further treatment is required.
Visually, the application adopts a calm and approachable aesthetic, using soft colours, intuitive navigation, and AI-generated illustrations to communicate procedures in a clear and reassuring way. The interface was designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring owners of all ages and technical abilities can navigate the app with confidence.
Technically, the platform was designed using Flutter to enable simultaneous deployment across iOS and Android from a single codebase while providing the flexibility to expand in future phases. The architecture supports planned enhancements including personalised pet profiles, vaccination reminders, AI-powered symptom checking, educational quizzes, subscription services, and affiliate partnerships without requiring fundamental redevelopment.
The result is a focused, scalable mobile platform that delivers genuine peace of mind for pet owners while establishing the foundations for a comprehensive digital pet care ecosystem.
