PAWS & PROTECT.
We partnered with Paws & Protect to design a mobile-first pet first aid platform that gives owners quick access to trusted emergency guidance. Inspired by the experience of a practising veterinary nurse, the platform offers clear, accessible support during emergencies and lays the foundations for a broader pet wellbeing service.
A Digital First Aid Companion for Modern Pet Owners.
Working closely with the founder, we began with a collaborative discovery process to understand both the clinical expertise behind the concept and the emotional journey experienced by pet owners during emergencies.
We did not set out to build a feature-heavy application. We focused on a Minimum Viable Product that delivers value through simplicity, speed and reassurance. Every part of the user experience was designed to reduce stress and help owners reach the right information quickly.
The MVP centres around an Emergency Guidance Hub where users can select their pet type before browsing categorised first aid scenarios including choking, poisoning, heatstroke, and other common emergencies. Each scenario presents clear, step-by-step guidance designed to be easily understood, even during moments of panic.
Supporting features include a directory of essential veterinary helplines alongside a location-based veterinary practice finder, allowing users to quickly identify and contact nearby professionals when further treatment is required.
Visually, the application is calm and approachable, with soft colours, intuitive navigation and AI-generated illustrations that explain procedures clearly. The interface was designed with accessibility in mind, so owners of all ages and technical abilities can use it with confidence.
Technically, the platform was designed using Flutter, which allows deployment on iOS and Android from a single codebase and leaves room to expand in future phases. The architecture supports planned additions including personalised pet profiles, vaccination reminders, AI-powered symptom checking, educational quizzes, subscription services and affiliate partnerships without fundamental redevelopment.
The result is a focused, scalable mobile platform that gives pet owners peace of mind and sets up a wider digital pet care service.
