Google’s recent Made by Google event delivered an impressive array of new devices and features, focusing on giving users more choices than ever before. From the expanded Pixel 9 series to the enhanced Pixel Watch 3, here’s a quick rundown of the key announcements.

Pixel 9 Series: More Options, More Power

The spotlight was on the new Pixel 9 series, which now includes four models: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Google is offering more flexibility, with two size options in the Pro lineup—6.3 inches or 6.8 inches.

The design has evolved, with the iconic camera bar replaced by a sleek pill-shaped housing. These phones are built to last, featuring shatter-resistant Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and a 100% recycled aluminium frame.

Camera Upgrades: The Pro models shine with a 48-megapixel telephoto camera offering 5X optical zoom and a 10X “optical-like” zoom. The 42-megapixel selfie camera in the Pro models is another highlight, offering improved autofocus and a wider field of view.

Performance and Battery: Powered by the new Tensor G4 processor, these phones promise faster performance and better battery life, with up to a 20% boost over the Pixel 8. They support 45-watt charging, getting you up to 70% battery in just 30 minutes.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold: This second-generation foldable is slimmer and lighter, with a 6.3-inch external screen and an 8-inch internal display. While its camera system is slightly less advanced than the Pixel 9 Pro’s, it still offers solid performance and unique features like the “Made You Look” animation for capturing kids’ attention during photos.

Pixel Watch 3: Enhanced Features, New Sizes

The Pixel Watch 3 now comes in two sizes—41mm and 45mm—with brighter OLED displays. The larger model has a 40% bigger screen, making it easier to read in bright sunlight. Google has also introduced innovative features like Loss of Pulse Detection, which can alert emergency services if your pulse stops—a potentially life-saving feature that debuts in Europe.

Battery life remains at 24 hours, with 20% faster charging. The Pixel Watch 3 also brings new fitness and wellness features, including personalised running guidance and advanced cardio tracking.

Pixel Buds Pro 2: Smaller, Smarter, Better

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are Google’s most advanced earbuds yet. They’re 27% smaller and lighter, thanks to the new Tensor A1 chip, which also enhances noise cancellation and audio quality. New features include AI-powered Conversation Detection, which pauses your music when you start speaking.

These earbuds integrate seamlessly with Google’s ecosystem and are the first to support Gemini Live, allowing real-time voice conversations with Google’s AI.

Gemini AI and New Software

Google also unveiled several new software features powered by Gemini AI. Pixel Screenshots is a new app that lets you search for information within your screenshots, and Pixel Studio allows you to create images from text. Gemini Live is rolling out to offer real-time, conversational interactions with Google’s AI.

Final Thoughts

Google’s latest event highlights its commitment to innovation, offering more choices and smarter features across its devices. Whether you’re looking for a powerful smartphone, a feature-packed smartwatch, or advanced earbuds, Google’s new lineup delivers. With these new products, Google continues to shape the future of tech, making it more personalised and connected than ever.
