Resolving Increasing Pressure.
Educational Psychologists are under increasing pressure, from rising caseloads and strict statutory timelines to a growing admin that takes them away from valuable direct work with children and families. While AI presents an opportunity to improve efficiency, most existing tools are built for generic use. They often fall short in critical areas like data security, statutory alignment, and professional control.
Key challenges included:
- Lack of GDPR-aligned, profession-safe AI tools
- Time-consuming report drafting and formatting
- Inconsistent output across local authorities and teams
- Limited access to tools tailored to psychological practice
- Frustration with anonymising data and managing multiple systems
Dr McKeating and Dr Bell saw a clear need for a purpose-built platform that could enhance EP workflows, without compromising ethical responsibility or professional judgement.

A Secure, Profession-Led Platform for Report Writing.
EP Assist was built from the ground up to support the real-world demands of Educational Psychologists. In partnership with Arch, the platform combines AI-assisted drafting, secure workflows, and structured data entry in an intuitive, profession-led environment. It supports a range of report types, including EHCPs, annual reviews, assessments and consultations, generating editable draft content based on structured inputs, while ensuring the psychologist always remains the author. Custom templates allow for alignment with Local Authority formats, and guided input forms help translate professional notes into clear, consistent, and compliant reports.
The platform is secure by design, with no data stored after sessions end and all processing handled within encrypted UK/EEA infrastructure. Role-based access supports both individual and team use, while the interface is streamlined for busy practitioners with minimal time to learn new systems. Nothing is auto-published, and full DPIA and DPA documentation is available for Local Authority teams. EP Assist reduces administrative burden without compromising professional judgement, freeing Educational Psychologists to focus on the people, not the paperwork.

EP Assist Outcomes.
EP Assist is currently in pilot with independent Educational Psychologists and Local Authority teams, with early feedback highlighting clear time savings, improved consistency in statutory reporting, and high levels of confidence in data security and compliance. Users have praised the platform’s ease of use and minimal training requirements, reinforcing its fit for busy professional settings.
Planned enhancements, including API integrations with SEND systems, team-wide analytics, and multi-user collaboration are already in development to support broader adoption across both independent practice and large-scale public services. Early outcomes point to significantly reduced report turnaround times, greater consistency through shared template and outcome libraries, improved service-wide reporting, and a scalable framework that aligns with procurement needs. Above all, EP Assist provides reassurance that efficiency gains never come at the expense of professional judgement or ethical standards.
